Competitive Edge

Toni Polk is 2015 graduate who began making a name for herself long before she reached Niagara Falls High School in Niagara Falls, NY. As an eighth grader, Toni played three high school varsity sports. Polk was not just a young player learning basketball, volleyball, and softball instead she was an intricate part of their success and she started in all three sports.

Toni was an immediate standout on the diamond making First Team All League as a Centerfielder and leading her team in all offensive categorizes while not even in high school yet. This coming season as she enters her freshman year she plans of competing for the starting shortstop position.

Toni was selected to play for the 2011 New Era Diamond Girls Fall College Showcase. During a tournament she hit .471 with two triples, ten RBIs, and a 225 foot grand-slam over the right field fence. At the plate Toni is true threat to opposing teams as she has a rare combination of speed and power. Teams struggle with how to play her defensively because she can drop a bunt down or slap and beat it out or hit a line drive shot past the outfield.

Polk’s athletic ability is accompanied by great leadership skills. She was named team captain for the volleyball and basketball teams at Niagara Falls High School. Being able to be a leader and take on captain duties of varsity teams as a freshman attest to her strong character. Polk is a great team player willing to play wherever the team needs her. Toni is also involved in several school clubs including Increase the Peace and Jr. National Honor Society.

As the high school season approaches, Toni has set her eyes on helping her team reach and win their league and sectionals. She also has hopes of making First Team All-League for the second time.

Polk has never backed away from a challenge. Playing against older girls all her life has given her that true competitive edge as she has always had to prove herself because of her age.

Toni Polk has great potential on the softball field. If she continues to work hard and keep her head in the books she has the golden ticket to her future. She's the type of athlete college coaches dream about adding to their program.
